UNIT 9
Context
This unit is our last unit. We are doing a play called King UBU which is a comedic and parody spin off of Macbeth. This Unit decides on our grades and status of next year. King UBU from my understanding is about Pa UBU the main character is wanting to over thrown the king and he rules the land with a nasty rule. People hate his rule and then chase him out.
This Unit is also our last Unit therefore we are in charge of production as well as performance with of course help from the teachers.
The first time we saw the play a lot of us didn't understand the language and thought it was very long play.
Research
The research of this Unit so far has been on the play language and dynamic. We research comedic play and comedic short clips as this play is a comedic and parody spin off for Macbeth. The first research clip was King UBU the play performed on stage. We watched this so it could help us in seeing ways in which we could perform UBU and possibly take ideas from the clip.
https://youtu.be/35lf_dc_SRM
After watching the clip we understood more of the type of play we were doing and the genre even though we knew it was comedy we also found out that the UBU performance is under the satire genre.
The next research was to understand the satire genre. We did that by trying to find examples of clips and TV shows using the satire genre. We found Tracy Olmen who was doing a satire genre of Teresa May and Donald trump progress cold open SML.
https://youtu.be/Zdn5WJNNTwk
Through this clips we found that a satire genre is making fun of something and very cartoonish and doesn't take it seriously and make it comedic.
For the production side of this Unit my category was costume design for this my research conducted of researching King UBU plays and seeing what they chose to wear for there plays and try integrate some of in our play. Someone in the class came up the idea of a Victorian style play for that i researched Peaky Blinders and great Gatsby knowing those have a Victorian style i researched images and videos on UBU and Victorian style and tried to figure out how to mix them both.
Planning
The planning process for this unit was a lot of practice and preparation for our show and play of King UBU.
We had a lot of script reading lessons and memorising and characterisation.
In one lesson we had a task to act out as a character another person gives you. For example someone says Police man we act like a police man typically would. For this exercise we had to act these characters in stages.
The first stage was statue we were given the character and had to stand as a statue but look like those characters. Using the police officer example we acted as a police officer but couldn't move so we would stand straight with hands behind back or hands saluting.
The next step was a gesture so we used out body movements to gesture something that character would do.
The third step was dialogue we added in a line that character would say.
From this activity we learnt physicality and movement techniques so we could lift the script of the page instead of walking around saying lines.
We did this to improve our physicality to act and show the audience our character and make the story more believable and more entertaining. This exercise was to teach us to lift the words of the script and use body language as well as lines.
There was a lot of planning for the production side of this unit. My category was costume i planned on a peaky blinders mixed with the comedic effect of King UBU.
Problem solving
We had a lot of problems with this unit. One major one was we weren't ready for this play nobody had the courage or the drive to do this play. Which lead to late rehearsals and missed deadlines and not being more prepared then we could of been.
We also had a problem with Production. This unit is our last unit therefore we were in charge of production roles but most of the things that were planned was not used in the final production. So we can to do with props that were used and old costumes.
Another problem was some students responsibilities were given to other students as they couldn't finish it. This led to me having the job of costume design and also lightening i had the task of writing every blackout where and when they are in the script and also most of our ideas and things we have planned wasn't done in the final production of the show.
Evaluation
This Unit was very difficult as there was a lot of miss communication between students and teachers.
At the beginning of this Unit we first got our script for King UBU we didn't understand what this script was about and didn't understand the language. The beginning we were just learning the memorise the lines. By the end of this Unit we had learn to lift the script of the page and not stand in a say lines we learnt more physicality and body movements and learnt more of characterisation.
Personally for this Unit I feel some of my own skills have improved. I feel my confidence is better than it was in other units. Even though it still needs improving i feel that i have improved from last time.
Our planning process was very receptive in learning on scripts every lesson but i think that just helps us remember what we do and helps us perform even better in the end.
Our problem solving did cause alot of problems but it the end we still had a performance to

UNIT 8 (personal project and presentation)
UNIT 8
Personal project and presentation
In this Unit we were asked to reflect on our skill set and how we will use what we have learnt For our play UBU.
I will show how i progressed this year and how i will use my developed skill set in my performance.
Skill set
Punctuality- 98.9% throughout the year shows that i am good at time keeping and planning my day
Memorisation- In all my plays i have said my lines in the right order and the right time which shows i am good at my memory skill.
Team work- My teamwork's skills are shown in my performances, and classroom practices and my communication between the team
Patience- My patience is shown in when other actors are late or plans are delayed. I have shown that i can be patience.
Respect- I respect other people fairly even though i may not receive it back.
Confidence- My confidence have grown since the start of the year. I have shown that i am more likely to talk to new people and my confidence on stage has grown with my voice projection and my pace. I still believe though that this skill does still need improving, even though i have grown in confidence i believe it not the best that it can be.
Maturity- My maturity is a good skill as i am focused when other may not of been and i plan my time to be able to achieve my goals.
Flexible- I have shown my flexibility in being in rehearsals and lesson even though it was not on my timetable and being in classes when the times changed.
Determination- My determination was shown im how i was in for every rehearsal and also got other actors to come into rehearsal and did other jobs even though they were not my responsibility.
Next year
My plans for next year is to apply for Level 3 acting and continue with my acting class. I already have found a monologue for my interview and i'm on the stages of memorises it. If my plans of level 3 acting does not come into tuition. My other option is enrolling into another course at the same college. Which is Art and design i have applied to it but if i have a interview is still on the line at this moment in time.

UNIT 1 + 2 (Introduction to Performance and production)
UNIT 1
Introduction to Performance
Context
This Unit is our first unit to the year and it is our introduction to performance and we are doing a play about Identity. It is a improvised piece which helps us gain skills and improve on the skills we have. Identity piece is a personal topic as it talk about your personality and your own identity and the stories that go with your identity. We were starting to put our identity pieces together with different stimuli to help us. We discussed what identity means to us and we came up the idea of bullying as a lot of people get bullied which can effect our identity or the person we turn out to be. We discussed different kind of bullying and chose bullying someone over where they cane from and how they are not easily accepted in the first place because they are from a different country.
Research
The research for this unit was mostly practice and researching on way to learn lines and researching topics to do with identity. For example we had to research technique of improving our group performances. Our teacher gave us pointers to improve. We rehearsed this to understand them and used them on our own performance. We also played drama games and exercises. Using these games as spatial awareness and awareness of the other actors in our class. The skills of improvising helped us create more ideas with our group pieces of how to create idea on the spot and how to learn to use these idea to our advantages.

Planning
The planning for this unit was mostly practising ,reading lines and improving our skills.
The main problem is people keep getting distracted when sitting at the back and another improvement is to stand still when saying lines and not to move around or dance around as that can be a distraction. Instead of dancing we could do movements that had to do with our characters. More improvements is be aware of the stage space and not to profile act during a dialogue, but to cheat out the space.
Evaluation
At the start of this unit we were new to the acting course and new to each other. By the end we learn skills and key points for the future of acting and the future of this course. The performance showed off what we learnt and still have some improvements for future performances.
The problem in this unit was we this was our first unit so therefore we were new to the teaching styles and the way the lessons work but i believe that we worked out and did a good performance. Our planning process was very receptive in learning on scripts every lesson but i think that just helps us remember what we do and helps us perform even better in the end.
My performing skills before I was very good at memory but in the first few weeks my confidence and projection was very low and my skills as a actor were not fully developed and I still had learning to do. Even thought I have improved in some areas I still have learning to do and I hope and learn in
future performances. I believe my voice projection has improved as I was never loud but when the performance came i spoke loud and clear which I am very happy about. I also believed my communication has improved as I talk to my fellow class mates and tell my ideas to them and I think communication is key especially in improving in acting.
Other people's believe my confidence has grown and I have good use of space and I know where to stand and how to dress the audience. Also they have said my body language has enhanced as I don't stand and talk my lines. I use my body more and my actions.
The skills needed for the performance is the skills we have been learning throughout our lessons. Like voice projection and confidence and skills that helped us in our acting lessons and in
performances

UNIT 2
Introduction to Production
Context
This unit was our introduction to Performance. This unit taught us the production side of performances and taught us if acting is not our interest there are other things that we can pursue that will still be involved in working in theatre.
In unit 2 we learnt about the different production jobs and how its not only the actors that made the play into show business,We we have to work on choosing a production job and write a essay on it I decided on doing costume design because i am the most interested into designing and the intricate steps of costume design and behind the scenes of everything that goes into costume design. We had to research what qualifications and experience you had to do to get into these jobs. These topics include of what qualifications you would need to do these jobs and how much money is paid in these jobs. These topics go into information about the job and so if we chose to chose one of these jobs these
essays will help us with the information we would need. This is also helping us have another option if performing or acting wasn't want we wanted in our future life we can have a option of working behind the scenes of theatres.
Research
The research for this Unit was on finding a production job that interests you. Find information of this job and complete an essay on the job and it’s details.
First we watched some videos of different performances and learning how that act came onto the big show. (the blue man group and the Ukraine dancers). I felt that we were learning about the behind the stage of the theatre and that it's not only about the actors that people see.
I had to also research what goes on behind costume design and I had to see how much money a costume designer makes.
I also had to research what education goes into being a costume designer, what degrees you had to have and also what company you would be likely working for as well as what other production jobs they would have to work with.
I also researched what other famous people do costume design that have become famous and have had a business in costume design.
Planning
This unit planning was to plan the job we chose and to plan our essay and their formats. These essays portray the job we chose and the information gathered and also what job would best suit us if acting didn’t work out.
The planning process for this unit is to research all the info and then lay it out onto a format for the examiner to understand what I was trying to portray in this essay about the job of costume design. I also had to plan what format my essay was in.
Problem solving
The problem in this unit is that the production job I chose to do a essay on which was costume design didn't have much information as costume design is one of the lower jobs and there is no degree you need to complete for it. So writing a lot of information about costume design on a essay in the education sector was difficult. I managed a way round this by finding more information on the other subject to add more detail into the essay.
Evaluation
My essay was done onto a document and printed out and handed in. I had to do my essay into paragraphs explaining all the topics on the production job of costume design. The salary of costume design can vary depending if you're working with a company or not and which company you are working with. The education for costume design there is no necessary degree to have but a portfolio of your costumes and ideas is needed. The people costume designers work with is different as they have to work with a lot of people to see if their costume will go well with the play. I think i did good with my essay and i had a lot of information to work with.

Planning
The planning for this unit was mostly practising ,reading lines and improving our skills.
We was given pointers to improve our piece so it could be ready to show it to a audience
These will help improve our piece to show it to a audience. We have to learn one thing we have to remember when we are acting which is:
F. focus
E. energy
C. concentration
- Keeping our heads up
- being louder
- how to change our character roles
- Cheating the space (profile acting)
- How to inhabit a role (stay in character)
- To be careful on dialogue (not speak over people)
These will help improve our piece to show it to a audience. We have to learn one thing we have to remember when we are acting which is:
F. focus
E. energy
C. concentration
We have started to act in our groups our pieces of Identity. We came with new ideas of trying to improve like who goes where and if we saying the right lines. We have our basic three scenes of how the bullies treat the new students and with our improvising lesson.
We discussed how to put our ideas together and learn how different stage spaces help.
We are putting our different scenes together so it can all flow together.
Were going through blocking and started acting in the theatre so we know where our space is.
Rob is helping us with our scenes making them clearer and better for the day.
We have been blocking through in acting trying to get our performance perfect. We keep practising and keep improving. Rob gave us notes we still have to sit neutral in the back and sit quiet and keep still.
In acting we had the last few days to practice we had before we performed. Therefore on the day before we performed we went through the whole play and rob gave us some last tips. Focus was still an important one and we had to remember to keep focus at all times so where we look up to do during our performance had to always stay to the top row as that where we would be projecting our voice to and eye contact to.
Problem solving
Most of our problems taught us how when a challenge comes your way which it will that acting is not always easy but as actors you know how to solve it and carry on.
For our group rob added a scene so our piece wouldn't end on a bad scene as we were on of the last groups to perform for the audience and therefore making it a happier ending seemed to make more sense. Rob gave us notes on improvements on our acts. An important note is our focus must be on point because we had keep going off character when we have no lines or we are just standing on stage space as the audience is watching all of us and if someone in the background goes of focus the audience losses focus on the main characters and start to notice the tiny details. Another improvement is to be louder and to have more energy as the character. More improvements is be over the top with the character, the audience may laugh but we have to keep focus, when we sit out of scene to sit neutral. We are putting our different scenes together so it can all flow together.

UNIT 5 + 6 + 7 (Immigration)
UNIT 5
Research
Context
This Unit was the research aspect of Immigration project which is the subject of all three units combined. A lot of research had to be done for this project. This is because it was a new topic for us and has a lot of world wide factual reports. Therefore research was needed to understand refugees to see some stories and get into a character that was immigrating.
Research
The first part of our research was looking into the style of play we would be doing. We did this by our teacher showing us a clip of Come fly with me. Which is a comedic twist on immigration.
https://youtu.be/_S2wWVGprMQ
After watching this clip we were moved to a comedic play but after further research and understanding the seriousness of immigration we decided on not doing it in a comedic way but in a serious play to show a message to the audience.
My research came from news stories and articles about refuges immigrating across countries, the struggles they went through and the hardship that they faced just for safety in another country. My other research was to be done in our own time and I found a news article about a child dying from a sickness when he was in a refugee center which was supposed to be a safe place for him.
https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/us-border-guatemala-boy-migrant-dies-how-flu-felipe-gomez-alonzo-a8701586.html
Another reserach we had to do was of Stanalastivic because his way of performances and the way he told his actors to connect to his characters. Was a way which could help get into our characters for the play. We had to research his practice and how to get in contact with our characters with practices of writing monologues in another person view and practice acting as those characters we were given.
Our teacher also gave us pointers to our characters and stanalastivic practice.
Another topic that i researched was stories from refuges that came from Afghanistan. Our whole clas was split into teams to research things from Afghanistan. My team had to do it for stories from refugees. We found two stories which we
recorded and told our class our research.
.
Another research topic was from my class mates. We had to share stories of family members or people we know off going through the immigration process. One student gave us a story of his own of how he got from his country of Afghanistan. This story was very personal that we choose to take ideas from him into our play to show the audience the personal issues refugee go through and to
make the audience feel what many people go through.
Planning
The planning of the research of this Unit was planning on what we researched. Things like the news stories of the refugees we had to plan out to find. We did that by trying to find various news reports until we found a good story to put in detail and tell us our class. We planned on our monologues for our characters that were about a refugee we found in the news and using the Stanalastivic. The way i planned my monologue was to think of myself as the person that would be writing a monologue about there life and pictured being them and how they would feel. I did this because as part of Stanalastivic process he made sure the actors would feel what is like just so they could act it out as those characters.
Problem solving
The problem with the research part of this unit was trying to find specific articles for specific things. When we were given the task to find information and stories about refuges from Afghanistan. When we tried to research that topic there was many stories of immigrants and refugee stories but only a little amount of refugee from Afghanistan and even less stories with detail and a character to focus on.
UNIT 6
Performance
Context
This unit is on the performance of Immigration. The performance was of the play The container by Claire Bayley. This unit focus on the performance and the process in getting it ready for a show and a audience to portray our story of immigration and what refugee have to go through.
Research
The research for the performance was mainly focused on Stanalastivic and his practices on how a actor connects to there characters. His practices involved to ask yourselves questions on your character.
Who am i?
Where am i?
When is it?
What do i want?
Why do i want it?
How will i get it?
What must i overcome?
These question wills help us get into character and put ourselves in our characters shoes.
Planning
The planning for our performance involved mostly reading over our scripts. The script was The container by Claire Bayley. My character is Asha the fifteen year old and the youngest of the refugee in this container taking them to England which for them is a safe place.
My planning for my character was i gather the information i know about her. She is the youngest, and is very close to her mother figure that is in the container aswell. From the information gathered from the script and the research of refugee i planned of what my character would act like and how she says her words and practiced my part for the play.
Problem solving
For me this unit is difficult as my family is mostly English so i have no personal immigration stories of myself.
Another problem was lack of students so we did have to change a few things like changing our story to fit the class size.
Also our normal teacher was away so we had a substitute Shenagh and we are all still getting used to her ways of teachings.
One major problem is changing what we perform for the start weeks from the improvised work of the story from the student to the script work when we only have three weeks remaining to perform our piece and now learn lines.
As our class is very little and people are rarely in our class and the script is supposed to be separated into 4 groups but only 2 groups have been sorted and fully ready.
UNIT 7
Production
Context
This Unit is the production side of immigration and our play of The container. For this unit we
focused on costumes and props and the set and all the production side was our ideas and we had to choose what to do with our performance and how it will look and we did everything to do with this performance.
Research
The research for this Unit was on what it character would wear and how we repressed the countries those characters were from. My character was from Somalia so I chose to research traditional outfits. That would suit my character. We discussed all the production side ignore lightings and costumes in groups that we were performing in.
We also researched what living condition looked like inside a container. We had to make it look like it was real and we were travelling in a container and not actors sitting on stage. We researched what lightening affects we would use and what sound effect and music that can make our performance more interesting.
Planning
The planning for this unit was to plan out every production aspect of our play. The lighting, costumes, props and set design are all our ideas. We had to plan where we space ourselves out and where the probe are.
We planned lightening when spotlights show up and how the lighting would portray the actors being in a container.
Problem solving
One problem we faced in this project is that we planned to use more props and costumes and we planned to use lighting techniques and music. When it came to the performance there was a faulty lighting problem so we didn't have all the lights we wanted. The sound was also faulty so we didn't get the music we choose. Although these issues arose, we had to work with the lights and costumes that we had.
Evaluation
This Units have been about immigration. The Unit started with us trying to understand immigration and refugees. We did a lot of research and we had to understood stories and how people feel when traveling in small harmful places just to get to safety. By the end of this Unit we learnt the hardships of immigration and did a performance to a audience to porter these. I feel we did have troubles with the performance with lines and queues. I feel my participation was very good and my performance portrayed what i wanted and i successfully on my part portal a character that was in a refugee status. I did need a few improvements for next time like confidence and pacing are two of the major improvements i need. I will try do that by relaxing a bit my voice projection and pacing comes with confidence and if i relax more and try enjoy what i act i feel these improvements will happen.

Our teacher also gave us pointers to our characters and stanalastivic practice.Another topic that i researched was stories from refuges that came from Afghanistan. Our whole clas was split into teams to research things from Afghanistan. My team had to do it for stories from refugees. We found two stories which we
recorded and told our class our research.
.Another research topic was from my class mates.

UNIT 4 Clash of the concerts
UNIT 4
Context
In unit four we are working on the production works of what goes into a live performance.
Our assignment is to create productions for a live tour for a chosen band and create a live tour and we have to be the production group behind the scenes of a live tour.
Our first task is to create a group poster and a individual poster to advertise the live tour of our chosen performer.
My group chose to do Queen as it was a easy choice and we had a lot of examples of there old poster and live tours before and we could have a choice between if we chose to do the old Queen group or the new Queen group or a mix of both.
For our group poster we did a basic idea whee we could get ideas from to do our individual posters.
I chose to do my individual on paper as I'm not that skilled in photo shop and i don't have those equipment's at home. My poster was a drawing as i enjoy drawing more than photo shop and i believed my poster would be better that way.
The is my Queen poster chose the robot as a main focus as I've seen these robot in a lotto Queen live shows and old posters. The gold title makes the group name eye catching which entices the audience and led them on to read more about the information and let them read on more about the performance.
After our posters were complete we were given the task of doing a set design for the live tour of our chose performer.
Research
On the first week we watch a document on Britney Spears live tour in Vegas. We saw what goes into in live tour and how much work is there.
We had to research what the past Queen posters have looked like and what style they did there so we could have ideas of what we put into our posters.
I researched old poster of the Queen and i saw a recurring theme of a robot on there posters so i decided to put that into my poster.
On our set design we had to do a lot of research of live tours of the queen and try to see what there set look like and see what ideas we can get from them.
Planning
With the poster my planning process was to first get ideas of past posters from Queen from the internet once i got some references and ideas. I decided what to do on my poster for our first group poster a lot of my ideas was all put into one poster i didn't like it as i thought it was a lot of things that didn't match onto one poster.
For my individual poster i had a concept but i didn't know how to put it onto paper. I had to do a few extra more research of posters from Queen to see how they set out there format on posters. Once i had those i decided to put Queen name on the top and then the detail below so the audience eyes would go to the top and then work down.
Problem solving
One of the major problems is that Queen was a very old band even though they have been playing today there wasn't a lot of footage or pictures of there sets or live tours. When Queen was playing in the 80s being filmed at live performances wasn't as big as it is now where every minute of a live performance is filmed
Evaluation
We started this unit as having a idea of putting together a concert for a band or singer. My group chose Queen i think we chose that as they were a famous group.
At the start of this unit we were told of production roles and organising a concert which we have not done before. By the end we had produced posters and a whole concert on our chosen performer i enjoyed this Unit as it involved Art as well as art is a extra hobbie of mine.

UNIT 3 Silent movies
UNIT 3
Context
Unit three is about silent movies. We are reading the dumb waiter which is a play about two assassins wasting time waiting to be called in for a job. At the end of the play the job was to kill each
other as it's a comedy which many silent movies follow. For the dumb waiter play Rob chose our partners.

other as it's a comedy which many silent movies follow. For the dumb waiter play Rob chose our partners.
The important skills we would need for this silent movie would be:
- eye contact
- creativity
- memory
- imagination
- body language
- face
- gestures
I feel like these are important ones especially body language and face movements as we have no dialogue or speech. Our face movements and body language is to show the audience what we are portraying.
There a specific themes in dumb waiter. I think these themes help us in acting in the dumb waiter. I think the themes of Dumb Waiter are violence as Gus constantly annoys Ben. Ben does physically attack Gus at times because he got so annoying and Ben had enough that he had to shut up Gus at times. There are also themes of comedy in the dumb waiter on how the two characters play off each other and have a friendship which shows they have known each other for a long time. It also shows that they are used to their friendship.
The two characters have very different personalities. Ben has a much higher status than Gus. As Ben is the senior co-worker. Ben is very bossy and passive aggressive to Gus. Ben is sarcastic and condescending and very lazy and asked Gus to do a lot of tasks which he could of done himself. On the other hand Gus is very submissive and very talkative. He is very annoying, so he tends to annoy Ben a lot which his meaningless questions. Their friendship is something that has gone on for a long time and they have been used to each other but at some moments they can still get on each others nerves. This has helped us act like our character by getting them to know them better. I play Ben and what helps me. I can pretend to act like Gus is an annoying sibling which i have myself in real life.
Our performance is a week away i want my performance to appear funny and that these two questions have a good relationship. Like it is portrayed in the script and the play.

Research
In acting we were invited to go watch the musical production of Hamilton and have a Q&A with the whole of the cast. This helped us in seeing how professional production shows work and perform daily to audiences. The Q&A showed us how they worked and they give advice to younger actors like ourselves in what to do.
We had to practice our lines a lot as we were doing a scene each and we have to research the play as it been performed before and we watched how to actors portray the characters in the performances and how we can do the same.
We also watched youtube videos of actors playing the scene before so we can see how actors play the characters and learn how we can do it. We also watched comedy duos and see how there is always a high status character and low status character and this play is no different. There is a high status character and a low status character. We used these youtube clips to play the comedy accept of someone more powerful takes control of someone lower and make it funny by the scene they do together and the relationship they have between each character. We had a sheet of skills which gave us skills we can use for this performance.
Planning
The planning process was more of practicing and figuring lines and characters. We just had to practice and learn lines and work on our characters.

We were working on mime technique and had to improvise a scene of two decorators one high class and one low class.
In my scene I was the high class decorator and our plan was the low class decorator was doing the wrong technique and the high class gets frustrated trying to improve it.
I think what was successful was our movements was very clear and the audience can clearly understand what we were trying to portray in our performance. At one point there is a lot of angry movements as we are angry at each other for not doing there job correctly and those were big movements with our arms.

Also there is a trip being plan to go see Hamilton the music production this will help us in seeing professional actors in a professional theater. This will help us see our future and what the different job chances there are in the performing arts career.
In our movement class we did gestures for different emotions. We had to over exaggerate every movement as there is no dialogue in silent movies. So we did a tune made out of claps that we march to this works on our listening skills and our team work so the whole class can march to the tune together.
In acting we were working on our silent movie pieces and our dumb waiter pieces. In our silent movie pieces we had dialogue and movements in the silent movie we would still have dialogue but it would be on the screen and it would be on or two words a something big or important.
My piece included of someone of a high status and someone of a low status as that what many silent movies follow as the high status shouting at the lower stars makes more of a comedic scene.

My scene with my partner we decided to do a low status had to make tea for the high status we got the idea for making tea from the dumb waiter script we were reading. Our performance was the high status which i was playing was complaining about the tea that was made by the low status as the low stars kept getting it wrong and kept making the tea taste disgusting. I had to act the high status which means i had to be mean and very pushy to the low status.
In acting we worked on the dumb waiter and our silent movies. For our silent movie we worked on putting it together and having the different scenes go together to make one story. We have to do it in scenes as it going to be filmed. For our dumb waiter i have remembered my lines as it was easy to remember for me and we have to start practicing performing it without a script. We have two weeks until we have to perform it so our performances has to be perfected and performed in front of people. In movement classes we had to perform one piece from our client movies.

| Ben and Gus personalities |
Our performance is a week away i want my performance to appear funny and that these two questions have a good relationship. Like it is portrayed in the script and the play.
Problem solving
I feel there will be challenges with this unit as we are using our bodies more than using our voice.
Our facial expressions are important as-well as we use angry or sad expression to portray what we are feeling as we can't use our words. The difference between our facial and body language in when we have dialogue and when we don't have dialogue is when we have dialogue we express our feelings with our words, but when we have no words we over exaggerate our facial expression to make it clear what we are feeling.
When we were practicing i feel our body language was over exaggerated and clear but I feel like we need to work on our facial expressions and making them more big and more clear on what we are feeling and saying.
We all performed one piece and give each other advice on how to improve. In the dumb waiter piece we worked on developing our characters. I am playing ben who is in the high status place so I have to put the other character down at all times. Rob told me to improve on some things which were to act more annoyed as Ben (my character) is very annoyed at Gus and to act like to Gus is a younger sibling. We have to listen to each other so are characters can play off at one another. I also have to work on my projection skills. Another improvement was to back myself to help the other actors if they forgot there lines and to improvise until we are brought back on our thought and remember the lines. During the performance one of the actors came late so our teacher put my group first i didn't go in chronicle order because the actor was supposed to go before us, but it was solved and the actor came in and did it straight after
Evaluation
Our performance happen in the theater. Our dumb waiter performance went well in my opinion. I remembered my lines and my actions and i did everything according to our practices. The only problem was the group that went before us can in late to our performance leading to our group having to go first. My feelings was nervous especially as wen weren't expecting to go first. I think i still have the problem of my voice projection not being loud enough. I do project my voice but my voice isn't loud enough even tough i still think i am loud enough. I used my props to my advantage an example of this is the news paper when my partner portrays Gus as annoying my character i use the newspaper to cover my face as if i was avoiding my partner and trying to concentrate on my news paper. This also helps me take a break from being nervous of the audience staring at me as i concentrate on the newspaper. I did slow down my speech which was also a improvement that i had to for on.
Our performance went well our characters clicked and bounced off at each other which was supposed to happen. I did feel nervous but my concentration on the performance and me doing good over ran the nervousness. The performance went well we learnt all our lines and the audience enjoyed it.
